Dear Ashish,

Yes, these two positions can exist together. In our organization, we have an Executive Director as well as a Managing Director. The company operates two plants, with the Executive Director serving as the Plant Head for one plant, while the Managing Director owns both companies.

I believe my response addresses your question. However, additional insights from experienced individuals would be beneficial.

Thank you,
VISHAL

Managing Director - Numero Uno

The responsibility of a Managing Director is absolute unless there is more than one Managing Director.

Executive Director - Defined, Demarcated, and Designated

An Executive Director is responsible for what he is designated for. For example, CMD Anderson of Union Carbide was responsible for the Bhopal tragedy as he was the CMD of the holding company's worldwide operations. An Executive Director, if not designated as responsible for a particular operation, cannot be held accountable. However, he will still be next to the MD in the firing line. The MD can fire an ED, but not vice versa.

Thanks, friend, for the question.
