Hi, I work for a top IT company. I submitted my resignation and am currently serving the notice period. I copied a few scripts to my personal email with the sole intention of referencing them, with no other purpose. Due to this action, a security alert was generated, and they have put my Full and Final settlement (F&F) and relieving letter on hold.
The team investigated and asked me for proof of deletion of the file, which I have already shared. They are also asking me to sign an affidavit to confirm that I will not misuse the data further, to which I have agreed.
However, my manager is now threatening me, indicating that the delivery head will terminate me for a data breach unless I retract my resignation papers so that they will not take any action against me. They have not found any replacement for my role since I resigned.
Please suggest.

Hi, What you did is a violation of the IT Policy and should be considered severe misconduct as per your Company Policy. Copying official scripts to your personal email ID, whether intentionally or unintentionally, will be perceived as a serious offense by your employer. How can you assure them that you will not share the scripts with a competitor company? Your immediate superior is advising you to withdraw your resignation for the time being, but the employer will continue to monitor you closely. Alternatively, you can assure your employer that you are willing to extend your notice period until they find a suitable replacement for you. Since what you did was wrong, the employer will have the upper hand, so handle the situation diplomatically and seek an amicable departure.
