Greetings from KLP Corporate Services. Please find enclosed the revised Government of Karnataka Minimum Wages and DA for the scheduled employment for the period from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025. The Karnataka Minimum Wages for the year 2024-25 have been increased by Rs. 681.60. The current DA is Rs. 3518.40 for the Shops and Commercial Establishments sector and Rs. 2223.60 for the Security sector respectively. These changes are to be implemented from 1st April 2024.

The class of employment and designation-wise calculations under the Shops and Commercial Establishments Act and Security Agency Act are enclosed for your reference. Please ensure that the revised minimum wages are paid to all employees who are contracted out so that they can, in turn, pay their resources and subcontractors. It's mandatory for contractors to revise their salary structure as per the Minimum Wages published for the year 2024-25. If any of your regular employees are paid as per the Minimum Wages at your organization, then kindly revise the salary for those coming under the Minimum Wages from April 2024.

Points to Consider While Fixing Minimum Wages for 2024-25

1. Calculate the minimum daily rates of wages for daily wage earners by dividing the monthly rates by 26 days, and provide wages for the 4 weekly holidays.
2. Pay women employees the same rates of wages as men if the nature of their work is the same.
3. Continue paying the higher rates of wages where the prevailing rates of wages are higher and they cannot be reduced.
4. Ensure the daily total earnings of piece workers for 8 hours of work are not less than the daily rates of wages fixed for that category of employees. If workers are employed for less than 8 hours, pay them at least 4-hour wages. If they work more than 4 hours, pay them 8-hour wages.
5. Pay workers who aren't mentioned in this notification based on the nature of their work.
6. Pay workers double the normal rate of wages (Gross wages) if they are employed on the day of the weekly holiday as well as on National and Festival Holidays.
7. Pay employees two times the normal rates of wages for work beyond the normal working hours. (As per Shops and Commercial Establishments Act Sec 16, Definition of Wages = Total Full-time earnings)
8. Continue extending any other benefit in addition to the minimum wages that has already been extended to the employees.
9. As per Karnataka Minimum Act, 1948 Section 4, the appropriate government has the power to fix the minimum wages, and the state of Karnataka has considered only the Basic and DA components as minimum wages.
10. As per Section 6 of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, ensure that Wages to the employees are directly credited to their respective bank accounts.
11. Ensure the implementation of Minimum Wages under The Contract Labour (Abolition and Regulation) Act, 1970, and the applicability of all other applicable Acts to such employees if the Establishment has engaged employees under this Act.
