We have given our employees 10 statutory holidays in a year, out of which 2 are optional holidays that can be chosen from the state-wise holidays list.
Out of these 10 holidays, there are 4 mandatory public holidays: 26 Jan (Republic Day), 01 May (Labour Day), 15 Aug (Independence Day), and 2nd Oct (Gandhi Jayanti).
My question is: if one of the public holidays falls on a Sunday, are we mandated to provide another paid holiday so that employees don't lose out on that statutory holiday as committed in the company leave policy?

It is not mandatory or compulsory to substitute a public holiday that falls on a Sunday with another working day. However, if you want your employees to enjoy all 10 holidays, then it is your decision.
While preparing and circulating the List of Holidays, you may mention the name of the public holiday and the date, even if it falls on a Sunday.
