Hello Experts,
Recently, we obtained a license for TN Shops and Establishment. I have some queries regarding the 'R' form (Register of Wages). Any guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
1. How should deductions for Ptax and Income tax from gross wages be displayed? I only see 4 columns (PF, ESI, Other Deductions, and Fines) under the Deduction head.
2. How do we indicate deductions for unpaid leave in the 'R' form and under which category?
3. What deductions fall under the 'fines' category?
4. We have a few employees under CLRA and maintain a separate register for them. Do we need to register those employees' records under the Shop and Establishment register/forms?
Thank you in advance for your advice.

To address your queries regarding the 'R' form (Register of Wages) in TN Shops and Establishment:
1. Displaying Deductions for Ptax and Income Tax:
- Since the 'R' form typically includes columns for PF, ESI, Other Deductions, and Fines, you can incorporate deductions for Ptax and Income Tax under the 'Other Deductions' column. Clearly label these deductions to ensure transparency and compliance with regulations.
2. Indicating Deductions for Unpaid Leave:
- Deductions for unpaid leave can be recorded under the 'Other Deductions' column as well. Specify the reason for the deduction (unpaid leave) and the corresponding amount deducted for accurate record-keeping.
3. Deductions Falling Under the 'Fines' Category:
- The 'Fines' category generally pertains to penalties or fines imposed on employees for specific violations or misconduct. It is crucial to differentiate between fines and regular deductions to maintain clarity in the records.
4. Registering CLRA Employees' Records:
- Employees under the Contract Labour Regulation and Abolition Act (CLRA) should have their records maintained separately as per the CLRA requirements. While the Shop and Establishment register/forms primarily cover regular employees, CLRA employees should be managed in accordance with the specific regulations governing contract labor.
Ensure that all deductions, including Ptax, Income Tax, unpaid leave, and fines, are accurately documented in the 'R' form to comply with legal requirements and facilitate transparent wage management practices. If you require further assistance or clarification on any specific aspect, feel free to ask for more detailed guidance.
