The appointment letter of a company must be signed by a person authorized by the Board of Directors, who have ultimate control over the company's affairs. Please verify whether the consultant has been nominated by your company's board to sign appointment letters on behalf of the company. If such authorization is not in place, then their signature will be rendered null and void.
