From this month onwards, I am asked by my employer to use my own car (Alto LXi 2005, petrol) for official purposes twice a month. The monthly usage would be one journey of 350 km plus another of 200 km, totaling 550 km. He has agreed to pay an allowance for the same. How much should I reasonably expect, considering the mileage is around 15-17? If I am offered less, I will be giving an excuse to not take my vehicle.

Considering the mileage of your car is around 15-17 km per liter, for a total of 550 km per month (350 km + 200 km), you would be consuming approximately 32.35 to 36.67 liters of petrol. To calculate the travelling allowance, you can multiply the total liters by the cost of petrol per liter in your area. Given your monthly usage and the current petrol prices, you can reasonably expect an allowance that covers the cost of petrol for the total distance traveled. It's essential to ensure that the allowance provided is fair and covers all expenses related to using your vehicle for official purposes.
