Issue with Mathadi Workers and Doorstep Delivery
We are an authorized distributor of Bajaj spare parts. Our materials are delivered to our doorstep by the transport service, and the transport mathadi delivers goods directly to us. However, another mathadi group demands that the material from the truck to our doorstep should be handled by them, and we should pay them for this service. Currently, the delivery is directly to our door. Please advise us on what to do. Is it compulsory to have a mathadi worker for transporting material from the truck to our doorstep, or can the transport person continue to do this work? Please guide us.
Registration Under the Mathadi Act
Is it compulsory for our workers to be registered under the Mathadi Act when they are satisfied with their current salary? We believe we can refuse the Mathadi union since the transport workers are already performing the job. Why should we pay extra for unloading when it is already included in the transport service and the small tempo used for delivery? They also demand that we must employ their workers. Please explain how the Mathadi Act works. Is it mandatory for my workers to join the Mathadi union, or is it their choice?

Please read the Mathadi Act and check if your organization and the nature of the job fall into that category. The fact is that Mathadi Unions are misusing the Act by pushing their Toli members into any company. They will provide you with a letter from their union with a cc to the local police station. These are their gimmicks. You don't have to entertain them and should act diplomatically without getting tense under their pressure. Avoid saying no directly to them. Instead, you can explain that our transport workers are already Mathadi workers and are competent to do the jobs, hence we cannot allow other Mathadi members. You have to politely and indirectly decline their request.
