Understanding EPF Deductions in India: Basic Salary or Total Salary? Any Limits?


I need to know about new EPF rules. Is it deductible from basic only or from total salary? Any ceiling limit for deduction of PF?

Hi Kalyan,

It's to be deducted at 12% on the total salary, excluding HRA, for those drawing a gross salary of Rs. 15,000/- per month. In respect of those drawing a salary above Rs. 15,000, it's only voluntary on either side, no compulsion.
