My employee is on leave for 1 month for personal reasons. Do I have to pay contributions for ESIC and PF? I think for PF, the wages will be 0, and for ESIC as well. However, what is the code of reason for a personal leave of 1 month? Can I use code 0 for this situation?

Hi,

If an employee is on approved leave and has leave balance, you may adjust it against leave partially or fully, depending on the available balance. If an employee doesn't have leave balance, you may deduct salary with LOP, and obviously, PF and ESIC contributions will be nil.
