Dear All,
One of our employees passed away while in service, and we would like to provide the utmost benefits to his family. We kindly request your suggestions on which benefits would be most beneficial for the deceased employee's family. The individual joined the organization in April 2018 and was covered under EPF briefly until his passing on November 14, 2018.
Please advise accordingly.
Thanks and regards,
P.S. Ranganathan.

I appreciate your efforts, Mr. Ranganathan, in trying to help your colleague's bereaved family. I'm reminded of one of my best friends (whose name was Ranganathan) who died while in service in a tragic road accident when he was riding his scooter.
That apart, you have not provided enough details about your company, whether the deceased was covered by any insurance, EDLI/ESI. There seems to be not much due from the employer's side as he would not have completed even one year of service.
Was this incident while he was traveling to or from the office or inside your premises (in the course of employment)? If yes, we have to study the applicability of the Employees' Compensation Act to him. That's why I need some information about your organization and how this incident happened. This will help me find out ways and means, please.

Dear Mr. Kumar S.,
He is not covered by ESI; only Provident Fund is applicable. In this scenario, which form will provide the maximum benefit given his short service? For instance, Form 20, Form 10D, or Form 5 would be relevant. The situation involves natural death, not an accident.
Thank you and best regards,
P.S. Ranganathan
