Dear Sirs, we were doing civil work at Chennai Metro Ozone under the main contractor from November 2012 to April 2014. However, we inadvertently failed to update our information in the ESIC portal regarding seven workers who had left. When the ESI office sent a letter for payment, we promptly responded and updated the portal to reflect that the laborers had left our employment. Initially, the office demanded payment for three months for the seven workers. Later in 2018, they issued a notice claiming 2.5 lakh stating dues up to 2016, despite our response. They have also put a lien on our bank account.
Please advise if there is any way to resolve the situation from 2016 onwards. We have continued to work on a few sites with over 60 laborers, and we have paid ESI contributions for them alone, amounting to 4.5 lakhs.
Thank you.
