1) Does the labor inspector accept a soft copy of the attendance register?

2) If the answer to the above question is yes, does it have to be in any particular format? (As per WB Shops and Establishment Rules)

3) Does biometric online data tracking require approval from the State Government or any other authority?

4) If a biometric system is implemented, is there a need for manual registers as well, or would either of the two suffice?

1. Yes. (Preferably keep printed as well).

2. Yes, as per the WS&E Act.

3. No. Labour officials require the reports in the prescribed format; as long as you maintain the records, there should be no issues.

4. Print and paste the prescribed format in the manuals and keep it available for inspection.
