Recently, I received a Salary Restructure letter from my HR team via email. They have increased my basic salary, resulting in an increase in my PF deduction and a reduction in my take-home salary. Previously, my basic salary was $3,500, and now they have increased it to $9,500 without discussing it with me. I wrote an email to the HR team expressing my dissatisfaction with the revised salary and questioning how and why they made changes without informing me.

Later that evening, after office hours, I received a call from my regional HR. He began explaining that, to provide us with a higher in-hand salary, they had initially kept the basic salary low. However, during a recent audit, the audit team discovered that this practice did not align with government regulations. Consequently, they abruptly increased the basic salary to comply with government rules.

We had an argument about the changes made to my salary, considering my financial commitments. His response was that the changes could not be reversed. I then requested him to provide the information in writing via email. He responded rudely, saying, "I will send it via email. Take whatever action you need to take. If you need to submit your resignation tomorrow, go ahead." These were his exact words. I had not even mentioned resigning. Even my boss has never spoken to me in such a manner. Should I file a complaint against him?

What was the pay scale as per the appointment order? Have other staff also faced the same problem? How much difference in take-home pay due to this move? You can complain to higher-ups in the company, but it will not make any difference. If the basic pay is increased due to some audit issue, the company cannot reduce your basic pay again. In the long run, you benefit from higher PF contribution and equal employer's contribution; savings will increase.
