Hi,

There is a restaurant in Delhi that is hiring staff for various positions such as floor staff, housekeeping, etc. They want to know if the Minimum Wages Act, as described here - [Office Of the Labour Commissioner](http://www.delhi.gov.in/wps/wcm/connect/doit_labour/Labour/Home/Minimum+Wages/), applies to the salaried employees to be hired on a permanent basis.

If anyone has detailed knowledge about the rules regarding the salary for hiring restaurant staff, please do help us.

Thanks,
Divya

Dear Divya,

Fixation of minimum rates of wages under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 is done by the appropriate governments in respect of the various posts of the scheduled employment only. The classification of employees such as permanent or temporary is irrelevant in the application of the minimum wages fixed. It is advisable to review the Delhi Government notification regarding hotels, restaurants, and eateries for the actual rates.
