We have recently formed a new partnership LLP firm, and there are no employees engaged in this. Is it necessary to register under the Karnataka Professional Tax Act, or is it not required? We have received a notice to get it registered and make payment. Please suggest to me.

Dear Manjesh,

You have admitted that you have received a notice from the PT Department directing you to register your establishment. Your contention is that you do not have any employees on your roll. Have you commenced your operation?

Thank you for your response. Yes, we have started our operation. They got the information from the Registrar of Companies and sent the notice. We have registered with RoC this LLP firm, purchased a commercial building, and rented it out.

Thank you, Mr. Srinath Sai Ram,

We have formed this LLP firm with a few known people and invested an amount in purchasing the commercial complex, which has been rented out. We have not employed any person, engaged in trading activities, and therefore seek this clarification.
