Dear Sir,
My IP number is 5915574249. I want to seek treatment for my family members who are living in another state. The dispensary for my family is also provided at the given option at my permanent address. However, when I visited the dispensary of ESIC, they informed me that I need to input the subunit code of the state where I am currently employed. They mentioned that the subunit code provided is for the state where my job is located, not where my family resides. Unfortunately, my company does not have a branch office in the state where my family lives.
I am unsure how to proceed or resolve this issue. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Dear Sir,
I went to my nearest local branch and head branch, but they say that we have done whatever we have to do. Now we can do nothing more in this. We have put up the dispensary name in family details. Now if they are not providing treatment and asking for the subunit code, then we can't do anything more about it. Please show me the way to solve this problem.

Dear Jitendar,
First point: The dispensary has no right to ask or demand you to get a sub-code number. Opting for any dispensary for both individual and family members is the discretionary power of the Insured Person.
Second point: A Sub-Code number is taken for any branch office, sales office, admin office, etc., when they are in a different location other than the main unit. Nowadays, it's so liberal that a maximum of 999 sub-codes can be taken in one state. However, in your case, we can't expect the employer to take several sub-codes for each employee's family purpose. The main purpose of a sub-code is not for medical treatment but for the purpose of cash benefits for employees working far away from the main unit, such as salesmen, etc. It is not mandatory to have an existing office to get a sub-code number.
In case you face any issues with the dispensary where you want to get treatment for your parents, you can explain the situation at the dispensary or resolve the issue by speaking to the concerned ESIC regional office by approaching the branch office (local office) in question. Nowadays, all ESIC institutions are linked with VoIP numbers, meaning they can contact any office throughout India for free. Take advantage of this and resolve your problem.
I wish you all the best.

ESI Facilities for Family Members in Different States
The ESI is extending facilities to the members' families staying in different states. As per ESI guidelines, if the insured person's family is residing in another place in the same state or another state, how can the family avail the medical benefit? If the family is residing in any other place, either in the same state or a different state, based on the declaration of the insured person and certified by the employer, the family is provided with a 'family identity card' for receiving medical benefits from the ESI dispensary in the area in which it is residing. After the IT rollout, the 'Family' is also issued a separate 'Pehchan card'. By producing this Pehchan card, the family can avail the medical benefit from any ESI dispensary or hospital either at their place of residence or in any other part of the country.
How to Get Medical Benefits When Temporarily Relocating
Through the "Pehchan Card," the employee can receive medical benefits across the country in any of the ESIC/ESIS dispensaries, subject to entitlement.

Now the days have gone of Pehchan Cards (SMART CARD) in that place it has introduced e-pehchan (a paper card) which can be treated as a PERMANENT CARD if your AADHAR PARTICULARS are UPDATED.
Further nowadays, ESIC has introduced TWO DISPENSARY options online, meaning, one can be opted for by the employee and another for their family members. By using this, both can access the facility including superspeciality, otherwise, if eligible.
All the best.
