Hi S.N. Sharma, I have a query regarding the PF challan. In my company, 250 employees are working at a time. The total salary is Rs. 24,50,000. Rs. 1,05,000 of 180 employees are getting a basic salary up to 15k each, plus other allowances. Additionally, Rs. 6 lakh of 70 employees are getting a basic salary above 15k each, plus other allowances.

Questions Regarding PF Challan

I have several questions:

1. In the PF challan file, which amount should be filled in the gross wages field?
2. What is the total number of employees for the PF challan?
3. What is the calculation base for PF challan admin and EdLI charges? Is it EPF wages or gross wages?
4. What are the gross wages of the excluded employees?

Referring to the previous month's ECR for your easy understanding, you can download the same from the portal. The management was paying EPF on basic salary plus allowances. HRA is exempted from EPF, but other allowances are not.

EPF is 12% from the employee and 12% from the employer, along with EDLI at 0.5% (auto-calculated by the portal) and an additional 0.65% admin charge.
