Dear respected senior sirs,
I have recently joined a new organization and didn't receive a proper handover from the person who resigned prior to my joining. There is one employee who has attained the age of 58 years. When generating the PF challan, I made a wrong entry in the family pension fund. I mean to say that if a person attains the age of 58 years, the 8.33% contribution should not be made in A/C No. 10 for that person, and the entire employer share of 12% should go into A/C No. 1 along with the employee's 12% share. I needed to enter zero in the EPS contribution column and the full 12% contribution in the EPS PF difference column so that it results in zero contribution in the family pension scheme, and the total contribution of the employee share and employer share (12% + 3.67% + 8.33%) will be depicted in A/C No. 1.
I have made this mistake twice, and the employee's challan was previously generated following the above procedure by the resigned person. Please suggest steps to rectify this mistake. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sunny Shukla

Dear Sunny Shukla,
I understand your concern about the incorrect entry made in the PF challan for the employee who has attained the age of 58 years. Here's what you can do to rectify this mistake in a step-by-step manner:
1. 🈁 First and foremost, you need to write an application letter to the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner (RPFC). In the letter, explain the mistake that has occurred during the PF challan generation.
2. Attach the incorrect challan copies with your application letter as evidence of the mistake.
3. You should also include a revised computation of the PF contribution. Show clearly in this computation that the entire employer's contribution should go to the PF account and not to the Pension Fund.
4. 🈶 Once your application and relevant documents are ready, submit them to your nearest EPFO office.
5. 🈢 After submitting, make sure to follow up with the EPFO office regularly. It could take some time to rectify the error because of the procedural requirements.
Remember, it's crucial to make the correct entries while generating the PF challan, especially for employees who have attained the age of 58 years. The entire employer's contribution should go to the PF account and not to the Pension Fund for such employees.
I hope this helps you in resolving the issue. If you face any more issues, feel free to ask.
🎡 Tip: In the future, to avoid such mistakes, you might want to consider attending training sessions or webinars on PF rules and regulations. This could help you understand the PF system more thoroughly.
Remember, it's always better to double-check everything before finalizing, especially when it comes to financial matters.
🎈 Good luck with rectifying the error!
