Nature Cure
Foreword
For individuals who advocate and recognize the latent healing power of nature, like my esteemed friend and fellow practitioner, Shri H.K. Bakhru, naturopathy is a way of life. It is a distinct philosophy and science that strengthens the age-old faith in the correction of bodily disorders and restoration and maintenance of health through elements freely available in nature. It emphasizes the inherent curative powers of the body, highlighting that healing comes from within. Despite the simplicity of this method, individuals should not be discouraged from utilizing it. The ultimate healing process originates internally. In essence, the naturopath provides intelligent assistance and interprets nature's laws for the patient.
Shri H.K. Bakhru, known for his contributions to leading newspapers and magazines with numerous articles on various ailments and their cure through dietetics and nature cure treatments, has authored three books on nature cure: 'Health the Natural Way,' 'Diet Cure for Common Ailments,' and 'Foods That Heal.' All three books have been well-received by the public.
A recent news item in newspapers highlighted a famous French folk singer, Rike Zarai, who, despite never practicing naturopathy, became an authority on herbs and nature cure due to her personal experience. Following a severe accident that left her with multiple broken vertebrae and a calcium deficiency, she defied medical expectations of being unable to walk without crutches. Embracing natural remedies, she attributed her remarkable recovery to clay compresses, much to the dismay of her surgeon. This transformative experience led her to delve deeper into natural medicine, resulting in the publication of two books: 'Ma Medicine Naturelle' and 'Her Secrets Naturelles,' with the former selling 280,000 copies. Both books have challenged conventional medical practices.
Shri H.K. Bakhru's latest book, 'A Complete Handbook of Nature Cure,' serves as a comprehensive guide to naturopathy. This book advocates that proper nutrition can have profound healing effects and emphasizes the significant role of nutrition in human life. The author suggests that the right food choices can work wonders and possess immense curative power. The book, alternatively titled 'Return to Nature,' aims to invigorate the body's homeostatic mechanism, restore health structure and function, and promote perfect health through the regulation of various aspects of daily life on a natural basis.
I extend my best wishes to the author, Shri H.K. Bakhru, for the publication of this enlightening book.

Preface
Nature cures, not the physician - Hippocrates
"What, you may ask, is a public relations man doing writing a book on nature cure?" The answer is simple: good health should be a concern for everyone, not just the medical profession. In my case, I endured years of suffering, largely due to the limitations of modern medicine. This led me to explore natural methods of treatment and disease prevention, as well as strategies for maintaining good health. Implementing time-tested nature cure methods proved immensely beneficial, prompting me to investigate their application for various ailments.
What began as brief notes evolved into detailed articles on 'Cure Without Drugs,' many of which were published in 'The Economic Times.' The overwhelming response from readers, along with their suggestions to compile the articles into a book for wider dissemination, resulted in the publication of 'Health the Natural Way.' Subsequently, my second book, 'Diet Cure for Common Ailments,' was well-received by both the press and the public. The popularity of my health, nutrition, and nature cure articles in leading newspapers and magazines inspired me to write a comprehensive book on nature cure under the current title, aimed at benefiting the general public.
Experience is a compelling teacher, and I begin by sharing my personal health journey to illustrate the effectiveness of nature cure in overcoming major health challenges. Contracting pleurisy and typhoid fever simultaneously at the age of 16 forced me to pause my studies for a year due to debilitation. Despite a gradual recovery, I developed heartburn and breathing difficulties. At 28, a stroke left the left side of my body weak and heavy, leading to a misdiagnosis of a brain tumor and a harrowing hospital experience. Subsequent diagnoses of chronic duodenitis, hiatus hernia, and other ailments resulted in a heavy reliance on drugs and a decline in health. It wasn't until the age of 55 that I wholeheartedly embraced natural methods, making significant dietary and lifestyle changes. This shift yielded remarkable results, enhancing my overall health and quality of life.
