Hi, I am working as an HR professional in an IT company. I am a fresher, and as there is no dedicated HR personnel in the company, I have to handle all the responsibilities. However, the issue I am facing is that employees frequently take leaves, leading to losses for the company. Additionally, the company already has alternate Saturdays off. How can I effectively deal with this situation? Please help me.

Thank you,
KAJAL

Ensuring Policy Compliance as an HR Professional

Being an HR professional, responsibility entails not only the preparation of policies but also ensuring their adherence. There are several steps to guarantee policy compliance. Based on my knowledge, you can consider the following steps, with various options available as well:

1. During induction, it is essential to clearly explain the policies.
2. Offer proper counseling sessions.
3. Provide education and training on the policies.
4. If the above methods do not yield results, written warnings can be issued, followed by the deduction of wages through Loss of Pay (LOP) or by implementing disciplinary actions.

Dear Kajal,

The best way is to conduct a town hall session with all employees, educating them about the leave policy and informing them that the same will be enforced. It is very important to keep a check on shrinkage, and the stage, as per your query, has arrived to actually enforce the leave policy to maintain the same.
