I am working as an HR executive in an IT company situated in Mumbai. I'm the only HR in my company. We have a 6-day work week culture, and we have our weekly off on Sunday. Around 50 employees are working in my company. Our office timing is from 10 am to 6 pm. As an IT company, the attrition rate is high. Therefore, I am planning to implement a Saturday off policy in my company. I believe it will serve as a motivational factor for employees.

I have discussed this with the management, and they have requested a detailed report on the proposal. Currently, we only have a general shift, but in the future, if we decide to introduce 1st and 2nd shifts, what will be the timings for those shifts, and how will the Saturday and Sunday off policy apply to them?

We do not want a policy with less than 48 working hours. Additionally, we do not prefer an alternate Saturday off policy because our marketing team works only for 3 hours on Saturdays. They are not willing to work for the full day on Saturday, and we do not want to open the office just for three people.

I kindly request all of you to share your views and ideas.

First, be sure whether you want just "5 Days Week" or "5 Days work with alternative weekly off". When you switch to multiple shifts, you cannot have a weekly off of specific two days for all. As you mentioned that your marketing team comprises only three people, what is the harm if they work for ONLY 3 hours on Saturdays, if it happens to be a working day for others by rotation?
