Is it mandatory to mention the Reason for taking annual leave? In many companies annual leave is called as "vacation / privileged leave".

Reply swagata: The reason for taking annual leave is 'annual leave' 😂. But on a serious note, what is your issue? If you can detail it right, you'll get the right responses.

An open-ended question like yours will only invite ambiguous responses, and some contributors will go as far as to talk about the necessity of leave in relation to work and work/life balance, etc. Is that what you need? Or do you want help in framing a leave policy?

In some companies, the reason for taking annual leave is asked for. If there is a need for the employee to be called back, they should know the reason behind the annual leave. If the employee is on a leisure trip, they can be called back in case of an emergency. However, if the employee is on annual leave for their marriage, they can still be called back. It is not harmful for the employee to provide the reason for taking annual leave. This is purely my view; please wait for other members to respond.
