I was working in an IT firm for the last 8 years. After that, I got an opportunity in another IT firm. My agreed salary was good, so I quit my first job. Now I have received my first salary in the new company, which was less than what they offered in their appointment letter. I request seniors to advise me on the next steps I should take.

No company would offer you a lower salary after providing it in your appointment order. Kindly note that CTC (Cost to Company) is different from your take-home pay. Please verify whether you had agreed upon the CTC or the take-home salary. Your questions will be answered promptly.

Bharghavi.D has pointed out one possibility. You might want to check your date of joining; if it's after the 1st calendar day of the month, then you will only receive a salary (take-home) for the actual days worked. Some components of a compensation package may (and I stress the 'may') be paid out quarterly, or there can also be tenure/milestone-based payments associated with you meeting targets or deadlines.

Hope this helps.
