I am an employee who joined a financial portal and have been working with a website since 19.05.2014. In my agreement, it's written that I will be on probation for the first six months. Our working days are from Monday to Friday.
Leave Policy Query
So, if I take a leave on Friday and return to work on Monday, will my Saturday and Sunday be counted as holidays?
Bank Holiday Consideration
Also, if a bank holiday falls on a Friday and I take a leave on that Friday, will my weekends be counted against my leave entitlement?

Greetings of the day! If you take a leave on Friday, then only one day of leave will be counted. Kindly refer to your company's leave policy and check if there is a sandwich system in place.
Understanding the Sandwich System
In a sandwich system, if you take a leave on Friday and Monday, then a total of 4 days of leave will be counted (including any kind of holiday).

If you remain present on one of the days, i.e., either on Friday or on Monday, your Saturday and Sunday should not be counted as holidays. But if you are absent from Friday to Monday, then yes, it will be counted as 4 holidays. Do check with your company to confirm the policy.
Although the sandwich system prevails in most organizations, some companies have eliminated this rule, especially when employees need to take leave due to sickness.
