Navigating Contract Employment in a Govt. Autonomous Institute: Employee Rights and Options - CiteHR

Anonymous
Dear sir/friend, I am an employee in the position of Data Entry Operator at an Autonomous Education Institute (Govt) for the past 6 years on a contract basis (initially for two years) and subsequently extended year by year at a fixed amount just above the minimum wage. I want to clarify that I secured this job through the proper channels, such as an Open Advertisement, Written test, Interview, and then selection based on merit.

Termination After Six Years of Service

Now, my first employer is terminating my employment after six years of service. When I joined the job, I was unaware of the distinction between a contract and a permanent employee, as at that time, the state government was also hiring employees in a similar manner and regularizing them too.

However, now everything seems bleak before my eyes. I do not know what to do or where my family and I will end up. Is it my fault if the employer advertised the position on a contract basis even though it is a sanctioned post, and I went through all the stages just like a regular employee would?

Employer's Responsibility and Lack of Negotiation

The fault lies solely with the employer, where there was no negotiation of salary or terms and conditions made by the employee. Every term and condition was dictated by them.

We have dedicated six valuable years of our lives for mere coins, and now the Institute is displaying its true colors. It's as if when the Institute needed me, they used me like a tool, and now they are abandoning us.

Seeking Regularization and Legal Assistance

Can I fight for regularization? Can I fight for the survival of myself and my family against these high-class giants?

Will the laws of India assist us? I ask because I have already faced a breakup. We have worked tirelessly here. They exploit us in their own way and provide minimal compensation in the form of a fixed salary, akin to a rich person tossing coins to a beggar.

Please, friend, help me.
