Understanding Gratuity Calculation: Years of Service Rounding Off and Eligibility Criteria - CiteHR

Dear Seniors, I understand that an employee needs to be in continuous service for more than 5 years to claim gratuity. I also know that we round off the number of years to months for gratuity calculation. Does that mean if an employee has worked for 4 years and 8 months, they too are eligible for gratuity as the years of service can be rounded up to "5"? Kindly advise.

Hi Rounding off is done only after 5 years. The employee will not be eligible to recieve even at 4 years and 11 month+.
