Maternity Leave and Resignation: Can We Relieve an Employee Right After Leave Ends?

I want to know the details about the applicability of maternity leave to a female employee. On completion of maternity leave, if she tenders her resignation, can we relieve her on the date of completion of maternity leave or otherwise?
