HR and Admin: Understanding the Differences
I don't understand why HR and admin are under the same head. HR and Admin are not linked and related. An admin job is mostly non-technical, and any graduate can perform the duties with little or no experience, which is not the case for HR. HR is mostly performed by specialists and professionals.
Skills Required for HR vs. Admin
HR needs to have interpersonal skills, communication skills, listening abilities, and be friendly and considerate, whereas for admin, you don't necessarily need any of these skills.
Most mid-level/lower-level/start-ups have admin and HR under the same banner to reduce costs. I would appreciate feedback from seniors.
Thanks,
AB.

The Human Resource and Administration departments are well connected. Human Resources is an important department of the entity. Its purpose revolves around the people who work for the organization: employees, laborers, administrators, and so on. Every employee counts because everybody collaborates with something in order for the entity/organization to function properly; everybody has a task or several tasks. Therefore, the Human Resources department's part is in charge of supervising people, assuring work environment quality (individual and collective), searching for new and efficient resources (new employees, so to speak), and everything else related to organizational development.
The Administration department also plays a vital role in the execution part, and I don't stand by your words; admin people do not need Interpersonal Skills, Communication skills, Listening Abilities, friendly Consideration, etc. Always remember, technical, non-technical; every department has its own challenges.

Very neatly put, Mahesh. Amit, it is not right to say that the Administration department does not require skill. The Administration staff need a lot of interpersonal and communication skills. It is the Administration department that ensures that there are no problems in the office with regard to the infrastructure. They ensure that the housekeeping, the security, and the infrastructure run smoothly. An administration person is always on call 24x7.
I am saying this out of experience, since I have about 25 years of HR & Administration experience in the IT industry, and it is not an easy task trying to get the housekeeping and security staff to work. By the way, it is not just mid-level/lower-level/start-ups which have HR & admin under the same banner. Some of the big companies in the IT industry have HR & Admin under one banner.

Probably you have not understood my question well. I have not said admin is an easy job in my post. I have compared the skills required for HR & Admin.
Comparison of HR & Admin Skills
I just want to understand why HR & Admin are put together, why not HR & Accounts or HR & System IT, etc. Partially agree with Mahesh!!!
