1. Can anybody tell me what is the difference between a state Govt PSU and a factory promoted by the Govt?

2. Gujarat State Fertilizer and Chemical Ltd. is promoted by the Government of Gujarat. Is it a government organization or not? In other words, are jobs at GSFC considered government jobs or not?

The public sector is the core public utility or public services business/operations funded, promoted, and managed by the Government, like Railways, Ports, and Airport Authority, etc. The Public Sector Undertaking means the industries/business where the majority of funding is from the Government, and its management is professionally done by a Board of Directors where the key directors are nominated/appointed by the Government.

GSFC is such a state-level Government of Gujarat Undertaking. Now, it is up to one to perceive its job as a "Government Job" or not. As I know the company closely, it is not the atypical Government Company, and the job there is not the typical Government Job.

I hope this may help you, though I don't know the purpose of your asking the question.
