Though we are familiar with the nine planets, we often forget them and their positions from the Sun. Here is a simple mnemonic sentence that will be handy to remember them easily: My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets. The first letter of each word represents the nine planets from the Sun in the following order: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. If you already know this, pass it on to your kids.

That’s a very GOOD one AVS :-) Forget about the kids, I ought to admit I still have that confusion — now no more of it I guess, thanks to YOU :-) Rgds, TS

Dear Sri AVS,

Very good way to remember. A New Learning. As per a recent study, Pluto is no longer a part of the Solar System. (I may be corrected if otherwise.) If Pluto is no longer there, then the mnemonic would read: "My Very Educated Mother Just Now Showed Us Navagrahas."
