Today, we are announcing two new features. One is Cite.Co Certification - this was a very popular feature a few years back but was never redeveloped after we changed our core software. This is available now, and you can view your certificate from the link in the header [top right].
The other feature is Anonymity - a link is now displayed on all your posts with the tag "Make This Anonymous" - if you click it, the post will no longer show your username or signature. We are working to remove any signs of the post from the find user posts and appreciations list. As you can see, I am using the feature on this post.

Hi Sid, Both concepts are very good and can be used for different purposes/situations. A very very very good initiative and milestone achieved. :)

Dear Mr. Sid,
I appreciate the Cite.co certification, but with regards to Anonymity, it may have its pros and cons. However, we must remain transparent in all our activities. This will endorse individuals' ethics as we, being professionals, strongly believe in sharing knowledge, besides being blessed with relevant knowledge in our respective domains, only utilized for the right purposes.
All the best and be ready to face challenges that may arise in the nearest future.
With profound regards

Hi Shaik,
Thanks for your message. The postings, although anonymous to the world, will remain associated with an account for us. This option is provided because many times people want to comment but do not wish to have their names associated with the comments. I'm sure there will be some issues, but accounts that misuse this feature will be removed immediately - which would be a significant loss for anyone who is trying to build a profile here.

Sid

Dear Mr. Sid,
Great aspect ever seen in here developed. However, I was fixing my eyes on your post and had an uncertain apprehensiveness to ask you this - What if someone does not want to use the "Anonymity" feature and get back the username and password? What happens if we want to address a user or post any private message? This question is asked to you, the reason being many new members are reticent to ask any sort of queries in public. Therefore, they always use this option of private messaging to senior members for assistance. Please clarify this for me. Thanks!

Hi Sharmila,
The anonymity feature can only be used when the user is logged in - and this is an afterthought feature, where the user posts and then has the option to make the comment anonymous to the public. It does not allow non-logged-in users to post in the forum. Thus, if the user wanted, he/she could private message the members replying to the thread - of course, those won't be anonymous. This feature is only to make the identity invisible to the users on the public sections of this forum. This will be useful for anyone who wants to discuss sensitive issues and does not want his/her name displayed or the account associated with that posting (in the public view).
We are currently working to remove anonymous postings from appearing in the "Find All Posts By User" and the appreciations - once done, this will avoid members bumping into some anonymous postings by the member whose profile they are viewing.

Sid

Thanks! Sid. This has been a wonderful new feature; ofcourse the certification on knowledge has been innovative, eye catching pristine. I have to admit it today - I adore this forum with fancy.

Dear Mr. Roy,
Appreciable initiatives. Like others, I was also not clear about the need for anonymous posts, since this is a public forum for exchanging views and knowledge. Your clarifications have cleared the notion. No doubt that these steps will be great for all the followers.

Very good developments, Sid. Though I am with Khadir about the chances of the 'Anonymous' feature being misused, your clarification should address that aspect. All I can say is: What's the next great step to make this forum even better?

Thanks, Madhuri,
Glad the doubts have been cleared. We are now waiting for the day HR professionals will start asking for the CiteHR certificates before making HR hires or, for that matter, finance, sales, operations, or legal hires. :)

Hi Sateesh,
As always, the main and most important aspect is the quality of discussions - we'll be trying to work on that. The certification system should encourage more people to participate in discussions.
In addition, we will focus on enhancing the library section to allow users to create folders and save discussions in categorized folders. This will transform it into a repository of documents and discussion materials for the members.

Sid

Hello Sid,
I am with you regarding your plan to streamline the Library front. I have quite often noticed (and sometimes faced too) that the retrieval of documents is a bit cumbersome, for whatever reasons. I have a large repository of CiteHR documents which I downloaded a year back (maybe even earlier too), but when I tried to access them to answer some threads in the recent past, I just failed to do so, as if that particular document doesn't even exist in the Library.
Regarding the Certification 'process', just thinking aloud — would it be appropriate to 'sort of' inform all members of the parameters for getting the Certification, since the end goal seems to be to encourage its use in hiring decisions (which is in itself quite good)? Or would it only reflect what's mentioned under the member's name in the threads?

Dear Mr. Roy,
It is really an appreciable job you have introduced today. The certificate made available can be printed and kept as our achievement for future memories. However, I am with Mr. TS & Mr. Khadir in respect of Anonymous, because sometimes it may cause irreversible damage to the community by some miscreants. Please consider another approach for introducing Anonymous. It can be made available with more restrictions regarding its copyright, ownership of material, non-defamation clause, etc.

Hello Sid,
Going by what S. Bhaskar mentioned, why not implement the Anonymous feature to begin with for members above a particular level? Once the lessons are learned along the way, it can be decided if this feature can be extended across-the-board. Just a thought.

Hi Bhaskar,
The postings can be made anonymous to the public but not to the admin, so we are always watching who is posting what. There is no need to worry about this getting out of hand. The user needs to be logged into an account to post anything.
Hi Sateesh,
Thanks, you just inadvertently gave me an idea - I've now made the certificate available only to those who have above 10 appreciations. Anything below that, and you, the user, will see an example certificate along with some description text. Anonymity is not going to be an issue - till now, it has been used for its intended purpose. The user posted his query, saw the anonymity feature, and used it. As I said, this is an afterthought feature. Many people want to remove queries after a solution is reached; this feature will help address those issues.

Hello Sid,
With regard to your remark, "you just inadvertently gave me an idea," it seems like serendipity is at action :-)
It's a good idea to make the eligibility for the CiteHr Certificate for those with more than 10 appreciations -- this will ensure some semblance of the members' participation.

Yeah, we still have to remove the usernames from various locations where updates are pushed - like the library (if you are already subscribed to the discussion), the index page, etc. Give us a couple of days and it'll be complete.

You got me Sid. :) Also, fix the drop down list view size when you click on the user name. It is not showing few the links available there. Let me know, if you need further details.

Dear Sid,
Thank you for the initiatives. As a retired person, the certificate is not of much use to me. But for people in employment and seeking jobs, it certainly is valuable. I wonder whether the number of followers too is important, as the facility for appreciations was only instituted recently!!
