I am currently working with a company in their Ahmedabad office and am likely to settle down here due to my daughter's education.
Eligibility for Family Pension
I have attained the age of 58, and as per norms, I understand that I am eligible for a family pension from that age. I turned 58 on 13.10.2011 (my date of birth is 13.10.1953). The necessary papers with all enclosures were sent to Bandra RPFC, who then forwarded them to Meerut RPFC on 27th Feb. 2012. I received communication from the Meerut office stating that I should open a joint SB account with my wife, either with PNB or SBI. I opened an SB account with PNB and informed the Meerut office, sending the required photocopies as well. All of this took place in July 2012.
Current Situation and Request for Assistance
After much follow-up with the Meerut office, I was advised to write to them to transfer the files related to my pension to the Ahmedabad office, which was done in August. Since then, I have been shuttling between the Meerut office and the Ahmedabad office. I am unsure if there is anything that I have overlooked. I would appreciate a few lines from the experts who can shed some light on this.
Thanks.

From your query, it is not clear how the Meerut RPFC office comes into the picture. Since your last employment was in Ahmedabad, where the contribution was being deducted and deposited, if you had some employment under the control of Meerut RPFC in the past, then all the EPF records should be transferred to Ahmedabad, and you will receive your pension from there only. Please clarify the situation.

Thank you so much for the quick response. I presume this might have happened because of my permanent address, which is in Ghaziabad. There is no other reason I can cite now. Incidentally, my headquarters is in Mumbai, and all deductions and deposits are being handled by them. The office in Ahmedabad is solely a sales office.

Since you opened your bank account in Ahmedabad, you will receive your pension through the RPFC Ahmedabad only, without considering any other factors such as your residential address, etc.
The Meerut RPFC office gave you the right advice. From your email, it seems that based on the advice from the Meerut office, you have already submitted the pension documents for transfer to the Ahmedabad office.
Currently, there is a delay on the part of the Meerut office in processing the transfer, and the matter has been pending since August 2012. Considering the workings of a government department, the delay is not significant. However, there is a provision to resolve all pension matters within one month.
To expedite the process, you can lodge a complaint with the Central PF Commissioner, Employees' PF Organization, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Bhavishya Nidhi Bhawan, New Delhi.
Additionally, you may submit a query under the RTI Act to the Meerut RPFC office to inquire about the current status of your case. You should also request information on the day-to-day progress made by the department on your application.
I am confident that by taking these steps, your case will be expedited.

Please note that you are eligible for the pension and not for the family pension. The family pension is provided to your spouse or eligible children in the event of the pensioner's demise. In your situation, it pertains to the pension and not the family pension.

Since pension cases are to be dealt with on priority, in addition to settling them within 30 days, I advise you to personally meet Mr. Sinha, Additional CPFC, in his office at Bhavishya Nidhi Bhawan, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad. He will help solve the problem.

Since Mr. Radnal is settled in Ahmedabad, I think CPFC, Ahmedabad should be in the picture. It is the right time for all his pension papers to be transferred to Ahmedabad and dealt with there. This will make it easier for him to follow up on a daily basis. Mr. Radnal should also seriously address the bank problem that Mr. Bt_Gujarat pointed out, especially considering that all pension payments in Gujarat are handled by SBI or Dena Bank. It shouldn't block the process. It's wise to open a joint account with them in Ahmedabad itself and clear the way for his PPO to be issued and start drawing the pension as soon as possible. In addition to Mr. Chandok's advice, there should be a Pension Adalat convened in Ahmedabad regularly, where his case could be discussed to expedite the process.
Good luck Mr. Radnal,

I am currently working with a private limited company in Bangalore. I would like to inquire about the deduction of PF by our company, which started on 01.10.2007, even though I was employed from 04.06.2007. In this case, am I eligible to receive my pension from the PF department? My doubt pertains to the basis on which the PF pension is determined:
a) Is it based on the service period?
b) Is it based on the period of PF deduction?
I kindly request you to provide me with an immediate response.
Thank you.
