Sharing with you a beautiful article I went through recently.
It was a sports stadium. Eight children were standing on the track to participate in the running event.
* Ready! * Steady! * Bang!!!
With the sound of a toy pistol, all eight girls started running. Hardly had they covered ten to fifteen steps, when one of the smaller girls slipped and fell down. Due to bruises and pain, she started crying.
When the other seven girls heard this sound, they stopped running, stood for a while, and turned back. They all ran back to the place where the girl fell down. One among them bent, picked up and kissed the girl gently, and enquired, 'Now, must the pain have reduced?'. All seven girls lifted the fallen girl, pacified her, two of them held her firmly, and all seven joined hands together. They walked together and reached the winning post.
The officials were shocked. The clapping of thousands of spectators filled the stadium. Many eyes were filled with tears, perhaps even reaching to God!
Yes, this happened in Hyderabad, India, recently! The sport was conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health.
All these special girls had come to participate in this event, and they are spastic children.
Yes, they were mentally challenged. What did they teach this world? Teamwork? Humanity? Equality among all? Successful people help others who are slow in learning so that they do not feel left far behind. This is truly a great message... spread it!
We can't do this ever because we have brains!

It's touching, but the question to be asked is: is it really possible for anybody in today's world of cut-throat competition to repeat the act? People who will repeat will be called emotional fools; they either won't survive or will be left behind and suffer. People who won't care for the same will climb heights of success.
But then, it's all about your feelings, ethics, beliefs, and the strength to stand and fight for the same even though you are alone, even though you don't think like others. I would like to say you live only once, but if you live it right, once is just enough.

I disagree with your subject line. Do you mean to say that the mentally challenged don't have brains? They may be lacking in certain cognitive abilities, but that does not mean they lack the capacity to think!
The very act itself implies that the child thought. We can't ever do this because we are self-centered, no longer believe in teamwork, and are more competitive.

I fully agree with Anuradha's point. Mentally challenged individuals lack certain abilities, that is all. Some of them may be much more intelligent than us ordinary people. They are people like us with specific needs as this site names them "Youth with special needs".
Please do not post such articles in the Humor section because it is not humorous at all. What those children did was simply 'child thought and reaction' which we cannot even imagine because we believe and live in a 'dog-eat-dog' world.

I fully agree with Anuradha's point. Mentally challenged individuals lack certain abilities, that is all. Some of them may be much more intelligent than us ordinary people. They are people like us with specific needs as this site names them "Youth with special needs".
