Hi Seniors, how will I know whether my institution is exempt or non-exempt for PF purposes? I am new to this workplace as well as to all the PF procedures. Please let me know where I can gather the information.

It's been enrolled. The institution is many years old. We have been remitting PF monthly as well. I was going through the EPFO website and had a doubt whether it is exempted or unexempted. Since the institution is old, I am unable to find papers relating to it. I just wanted to know if there is any other way to find out.

Understanding PF Exemption for Educational Institutions

All educational institutions are unexempted establishments as per EPF rules. We can't check based on the individual establishment or organization.

You should maintain all PF records up-to-date from the day of commencement. Try to locate those documents and keep track of them.

Understanding EPF Exemption Status

If there are 20 employees, institutions should be covered under the EPF Act. Your query is whether it is exempted or unexempted.

Exempted means institutions/organizations getting an exemption from PF, which means they may have a trust. All PF settlements are to be made by the employer. Pension amounts can only be settled by the EPF office. Most organizations are unexempted.
