Hi If ESI is applicable for the particular person then ESI will pay the wages for the particular for the employee.

I would like to add one more thing: if the ESIC will bear the maternity benefits only in respect of those ESI-covered employees whose maternity benefits accrue during their benefit period. This means that for a new employee, the benefit period will start after nine months of joining the scheme. The ESIC will not pay maternity benefits if the date of delivery is before nine months of joining the scheme. In such cases, the employer should cover the costs, even if the employee is covered by ESI.
