One of my close relatives is working at a Gujarat Government University. She has been working there since July 2009. A few days ago, the university's administrative officer gave her an application form for the Contributing Provident Fund (CCF) and instructed her to submit it as soon as possible.

Nomination for Contributing Provident Fund (CCF)

She wishes to nominate a family member for the same, but she is unsure about the process. Who can be a nominee for CCF, such as a father, mother, husband, father-in-law, or mother-in-law?

Your assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Normally, the next of kin is the husband, and in the case of a man, the wife. I found some answers about pension nomination.

"As a small aside, often company pension schemes have a named beneficiary for death in service benefit, so it might be a different story for an occupational pension. For example, I can name whomever I want to administer and benefit from my death in service benefit, and this might have been the case that the parents were named." The rules in India may be different.

I am not aware of any different rule in the contributory pension/provident fund rules of your university. However, as per the Employees Provident Fund Schemes, the family for the purpose of the pension scheme means spouse and children only. You are required to nominate others from your own family, like your father or mother, only when you are unmarried. I hope that would be fine for your scheme also.
