Dear Seniors, Regarding the above-mentioned matter, some institutes provide a two-year postgraduate diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, while others offer the same course in one year. I have a query: Do both courses hold the same value? Additionally, is the two-year course equivalent to an MBA in HR? Kindly clarify this matter.

Yes, but you know the value of a Diploma Holder in Engineering compared to a Degree Holder in Engineering. It's the same here.

Course Duration and Learning Outcomes

In a two-year course, whether full-time or external, you will learn a lot of things and lessons in management, including other fields. As an HR person, you should have knowledge of all areas of management, at least a basic idea. In a one-year course, you will learn only things related to your syllabus. However, if you enroll in a two-year program, you will learn small but important things like presentations, business strategies, management, and planning.

Finally, it depends on you. If you are currently working, then you can go for the one-year course.

Almost all syllabi are the same for everyone; they are only divided by names. In all cases, you will first learn basic management principles and eventually move on to topics related to your specialization.

Don't dwell on that; first, decide which specialization you want to pursue. If it's HR, you can opt for an MBA or MPM. These are recognized and will provide benefits, including opportunities for government jobs. Many government positions offer good salaries even for freshers and typically prefer candidates with an MBA or MPM background.

Hi Ashok, I completed a PGPBM in HR and am currently working in a company as an HR manager. However, the issue arises when we aim to work abroad, as they often require an MBA qualification. Why is this the case?
