Can anyone help me in understanding the Stretch Tool for PMS planning? So far, what I have learned and understood is:

Understanding the Stretch Tool

Stretch is the degree of difficulty built into the target at the time of performance planning. It ensures uniformity in the degree of loading of targets and balance across similar roles. The average stretch in a reporting group is controlled. The dimensions of Stretch include target relative to previous years' achievement, dependence on uncontrollables, complexity, skill requirements, and the need for innovation.

Request for Practical Guidance

Can anyone provide me with a clear picture of how to use this in my PMS plan? Any sort of plan or simple sketch showing its calculation and steps followed in planning the PMS would be of great help because I am really finding it difficult to implement in the planning session. I haven't seen how it works in any company PMS planning session. A practical example would be of great help.
