Brief of the Case

A registered Medical Practitioner in Maharashtra has shifted to Gujarat.

Query

1. Should the Maharashtra PT number be closed, and a new number from Gujarat be taken?
2. What if he takes a PT number from the Central Council of Medicine (CCM)? Can he then surrender the existing Maharashtra number?
3. Should PT numbers at both places continue in addition to the number obtained from CCM?

Practice will be solely rendered in the State of Gujarat only.

Regarding your query on PT, the question does not arise if the person has shifted from Maharashtra to Gujarat and is practicing his profession in Gujarat State. He will pay the tax according to the rules under the Gujarat State Tax on Professions, Callings, Trades & Employment Act.

Dear Members,

We have a manpower service provider company in Odisha. We have provided some Maintenance Engineers, Supervisors, Crane Operators, and Helpers to our client. Our client has secured a work contract (Material Handling & Erection) at RIL, Jamnagar. Now, RIL has instructed our client to produce challans of EPF, ESIC, and Professional tax deposited against the manpower deployed by us every month.

Procedure for Registration of Professional Tax in Gujarat

I want to know the procedure for the registration of Professional Tax in Gujarat. Can we register online for the same and deposit the Professional Tax?
