ESI Medical Expense Reimbursement Policy

ESI will not reimburse any medical expenses for any employee or their dependents. When an employee or their dependent is sick, ESI will issue medicines, and if necessary, they will extend medical/hospitalization facilities in the ESI dispensaries/hospitals. If the illness cannot be treated at ESI-owned hospitals, the ESI authorities will refer them to a corporate/government hospital where the required facilities are available, and they will directly settle the bill.

In case of an emergency where the employee or their dependents are admitted directly to a nearby corporate hospital, the employee/their representatives should approach the concerned ESI dispensary/the RMO the very next day, explain the situation, obtain a reference letter, and submit it to the respective corporate hospital so that treatment can be extended, and the bill can be settled by ESI.

Medication and treatment will be covered immediately, while benefits such as leave payment will be available after 9 months of coverage (benefit period), except for accidents, etc.

Any medical expenses incurred can be reimbursed through the ESI dispensary, regardless of the number of days the individual was admitted or whether they informed the ESI dispensary. However, compensation will be provided for any absence.

Thank you.
