Discomfort is a small price to pay for growth.

Many women find it difficult to say no, so they keep saying yes. Some women hurt when they hear praise; they shake their heads and deny their worth. Many women resist love. They are the caregivers, but they are afraid to be taken care of. Sometimes a woman wants to get intimate, but she is held back by shame. Fear, shame, and doubt eat away at your self-esteem.

Today, decide the course YOU want to take. Don't always feel compelled to flow with the current. Say no firmly and loudly when you need to. When someone praises you, smile gently yet proudly. Allow yourself to be loved and cared for. Take control of your intimate moments by deciding and expressing what YOU want. Allow discomfort to wash over you and fade away. Do the things that you REALLY want and throw away the mask that has been hiding you. You can do it!

Dear Amirtha, this is really a good one. I feel that most of the time, we, as women, shy away from many credits we are due to receive, assuming that it is simply a job we are supposed to do. We also ignore the simple fact that, like everyone else, we also need love, appreciation, and a little pampering too. 

As a trainer, when I conduct special training programs for women, I understand the kind of stress (not simply physical strain) that modern women endure today. At times, we ourselves are the cause of it when we try to be supermoms, superwomen, super employees, and so on.

So, all you girls, sometimes just kick off your shoes, relax, and enjoy life (without any guilt... of course).

Thanks once again,

Regards,
Prof. Pramadha Srinivas.

Very true, friends. Unlike men, we as women in the workplace may be misled or taken advantage of at times. Therefore, always remember to say "NO" when you do not want to do something. Do not hesitate, as hesitation in a woman's life or career can be costly.

Thank you, Amritha, for this motivational post. I agree with the comments of Prof. Srinivas and would like to add that in the list of mundane things that seek a woman's attention, she usually places herself last on the list. Due to time constraints and other pressing demands of the day, she barely manages to accomplish half of the list, and so the turn for "self" never really comes. Many women, especially in the East, have spent decades, or maybe a lifetime, ignoring their own needs, wishes, and desires. Slotting time for herself without the feeling of being selfish or guilty is equally the prime right of a woman as any other member in the house.

So, women, it is okay to pamper your whims and fancies once in a while, within acceptable norms, and treat yourself to something just because no one else but you wanted it for yourself!!

I appreciated this post very much. I have two daughters and two granddaughters and want them to benefit from this thinking. Of particular note was the thought, "Take control of your intimate moments by deciding and expressing what YOU want." I believe many women hesitate in the business world when it comes to speaking up. If they speak up too strongly, it doesn't go well, but not speaking up is not helpful either. I think there is some skill training needed in this area.

I am absolutely sure that "Discomfort is a small price to pay for growth." You cannot accomplish real growth without getting on the edge of your envelope. The goal and vision of what growth will mean must outweigh the interim price being paid.
