Dear Vivek,

I hope your organization has a scheme on "reward and recognition." There can be various ways in which an employee can be rewarded instantly in more than two ways: one is "verbal" and the other is "written," next is 'award.' It all depends on the policy designed and approved by the management. Various ways this can be systemized. Now, you also think along these lines and revert back with your thoughts. Let me know if this is an academic exercise only or required by your organization.

NTPC has a full-fledged Reward and Recognition Scheme. Just having schemes is not enough. The manner in which you implement it is important. I will cite an example: if you want to deliver an appreciation letter to an employee and you send it by mail when it is possible to deliver it by hand, it does not carry any meaning; rather, this shows empty formality.

Dear Satish,

I am surprised that despite being a PSU, how come NTPC is doing so well in terms of employees. Where did you get this idea from? Was it because of Chairman S. P. Jain, Mr. Sankarmaligam who actually took it on? It's among the most preferred employers these days. I see.

Dear Anu,

I would be grateful if you could send me an invitation for the Delhi-ITE HR Conclave to be held on 19-08-07 in Delhi to my email id: . Please also inform me if the presentation of a paper is permissible at the conclave. How much time is allotted to a presenter? Is it necessary to get the paper cleared by the organizers or the panel, if there is any for screening, and other related questions? Please respond promptly. I will greatly appreciate your quick response. I attempted to access the Delhi-CITEHR Conclave link but was unsuccessful. Could you please advise on how to access this link?

Regards,

Yours truly,

Dear Sir,

Here is the link to that post:
[link no longer exists - removed].

Sir, looking at your experience, I think it would be great to have you as one of the speakers. If you will go through that post, you will get the whole idea of this upcoming meeting. Also, we would appreciate it if you could involve more people from the HR fraternity for this event.

Sir, one of our members is preparing the day's agenda, and very soon it will be online. You will have a fair idea about the time for the presentation. And yes, you are also welcome to bring in your papers.
