Dear All,

I would like to know if there is any rule regarding the notice period. Does any law state that the notice period for the company and the employee must be the same? Can the company require the employee to give a three-month notice period, yet remove an employee with just one month's notice period or pay?

Look forward to your answers.

Thanks,
Gaurang

Dear White Eagle,

Thank you for the links. However, they do not address my question. I am inquiring whether the law permits a company to require a longer notice period from an employee when resigning while giving a shorter notice period when terminating the employee.

For instance, if an employee wishes to resign, they are expected to provide a 3-month notice, whereas if the company decides to terminate the employee, they only need to give a 1-month notice. Is this practice considered justifiable and compliant with the law?

Thank you,
Gaurang

N.Period shall be same for both the parties and there is no law avl for NP. However, ID act stipulates 1 month N.Period or wages in lieu of for retrenchment. Pon
