Hi everybody,
I'm an MSW-HR student and am currently working on a research project on 'A study of the factors causing attrition and measures that would enable retention'. I am in the process of preparing a questionnaire regarding this. If anybody has any insights for such a questionnaire, please help me with it.
You can post it on this site or email it to me at linzac29@gmail.com.
Looking forward to your replies.

Hi Linta,
Try to prepare your questions by keeping these points in mind:
- Select any particular industry on which you want to do analysis, for example, IT, retail, banking. This will help you to do precise analysis.
- Try to complete your questionnaire in 12-15 questions.
- Most of the questions should be closed-ended with 1 or 2 as Likert scale questions, and the last question should be open-ended.
Thanks,
Amrita

Hi Linta,
At the outset, let me clarify some doubts:
1. Are you concentrating on attrition or employee turnover?
2. Are you trying to identify factors or attributes? If factors, then a factor normally consists of few/more variables.
3. There are only two factors that you can attribute (am I clear in differentiating) - interorganisational and extraorganisational.
4. What is inter and extra?
5. What are your study objectives?
6. Are you going to do any forecasting on employees?
I think I've posed too many questions. Really not to confuse you, but it's to make your thoughts clear.

Hi Linta,
When preparing a questionnaire, you have to keep in mind that the rating scale should be from 1 to 5. The questionnaire should be in a closed-end format. However, when analyzing the report, the ratings for your project should be on a 1-3 rating scale questionnaire.
Thank you,
R. Vigneshkumar
