Hi HR members,

I have a problem that I have completed my 10th class in 2000. Afterwards, I did not continue my studies due to some family problems. After that, I worked at BPC Ltd, a petrol bunk for 2 years. Later, I joined SDB SISCO security services as a security guard to support my family economically. I then resumed my studies in 2004 and have been continuing ever since. If an interviewer asks me about the 4-year gap, I can't show any experience certificates except ID cards.

What do I have to say? Please give suggestions.

Regards,

Hello Veeru,

Mr. Mukund is right. Tell the fact to the interviewer without hesitation. Further, you can add, despite the gap/difficulties, today you are rigorously continuing your studies and absorbing the knowledge to be at par with others. This will exhibit your positivity. Giving false reasons will not help you in the long run; rather, it is not morally correct. Don't even think about it.

All the best!

Veeru,

You have to be "grateful" and 'GREAT FULL'. You say you are studying MBA in HR. Please pay attention to your English first. These small mistakes will be great hurdles for you in your career. It is not 'forgiven' but 'giving'...

Hmmmmm.

Best wishes

Hi sir,

Actually, I am a Telugu medium student up to intermediate. I have completed a BBM degree with an HR specialization scoring 58%. Currently, I am pursuing an MBA (HR) in the 2nd year at Loyola College. Please give me suggestions to improve my English.

Veeru,

A lot of books are available for improving English. Google, and you will find out. Also, in many cities, part-time classes are available for improving your English language and communication skills. You can search through Justdial.com.

Best wishes

Dear TummalaPalli,

As you are saying, I have already faced something similar to yours. After completing my 12th in 2003, I worked in a garment showroom for 1 and a half years. After that, I completed my graduation in 2008 and MBA in 2010. I am now working in a leading edible oil company in North India. The reason I gave to the interviewer about the gap is my family's poor economic conditions.

Don't worry if you tell the truth, you will win.

Best of luck
