Dear Seniors,

After a long time, I am here with a new question/query.

Q: As per statutory regulations, could you kindly list out/guide on electrical safety for a manufacturing factory?

For example:
- Under this rule, record-keeping is required
- Under this rule, testing frequency should be twice a year, etc.
- Under this rule, specify the types of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Under this rule, outline training requirements
- Under this rule, detail necessary qualifications, etc.

Regards,
Abhay

I do not have a ready-made answer to your query. However, I am attaching The Indian Electricity Rules, 1956, which may be helpful to you. I kindly request other members to contribute and shed more light on the topic.

Thank you.

Dear Abhay,

My suggestion to you is to follow your local state regulations, as it should help you. I am only involved in construction and do not have any knowledge about manufacturing companies or your specific query.

Dear Dipil,

Thank you for your input on this thread.

Dear seniors,

Please come forward to share your insights and guidance.

Thank you in advance.

Dear Sir,

The query you have asked will be clarified by the IE RULES 1956. However, you may refer to rules 46 and 63. If you are receiving power from TNEB, maintaining a power factor above 0.95 is mandatory. Periodical testing of transformer oil, earth pits, lightning arrestors, HT, LT panel testing, etc., needs to be maintained.

C certificate and B certificate holders are required for power-connected works. If you have a man lift, periodical testing also needs to be taken care of. Training requirements for power plant personnel were provided as an annexure in the said rule.
