Voluntary higher contributions are also acceptable at the joint request of the member and the employer; as such it would not be correct to say that the "limit" is Rs. 6500 only.

I am amused by the knowledge of the participants. The current limit is Rs. 7,500/- per month.

As per my experience till today, the limit is Rs. 6500/- (not compulsory) if the basic + DA is more than 6500/-. If we wish to deduct the full amount, we can. Now, they are discussing raising the limit up to 10,000/-.

Thank you, Mr. Raj Kumar, for your response. It is requested that moderators should keep a check on such posts where one member's information creates confusion for others. Additionally, there are instances where people keep asking whether it's correct or not. Therefore, it would be better if, in such cases, a clear and correct one-liner is posted as an answer to indicate that the information in the comment is wrong.

The limits for EPFO are still the same; there has been no change. I recall a situation where one member mentioned that paternity leave is now mandatory in India, which is not the case at all. This led me to search for confirmation, unsure of whether it was true or not.

Mr. Raju,

Even I understand that it's not about ill feelings. But it's just that I wanted to know if I have missed out on any changes in PF. Just understand that when I share the same information you provided in this forum with others, I need to have some proof so that others can believe me.

Thanks,
Chitra

Dear Ms. Chitra, As I verified later, found that I too was mislead by some wrong information and the statutory limit stands Rs 6,500/- only. Inconvenience regretted.
