The Lawyers Collective Women’s Rights Initiative (LCWRI) is a group of lawyers committed to the use of law as an effective instrument for empowering and changing the status of women in India. The objective of the Collective has been to evaluate the efficacy of laws, recommend its proper implementation and to spearhead law reform processes in response to the need of the times.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for thinker-Programme Manager with a drive for institution building and making change happen, and a commitment to team work and collaborative knowledge processes, with relevant experience in Programme Management. Be responsible for overall management of the office and programmes and compliance to statutory and legal requirements. Excellent writing skills and the ability for collaborative team work are prerequisites. Willing to give two years commitment, with the possibility of renewal for third year. Remuneration will be based on appropriate experience and skills.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To liaison with multi stakeholders, donors, Dy Director and Executive Director towards smooth implementation of projects and programmes.
  • To coordinate and ensure time line and organize seminars, conferences, round table consultations, workshops in consultation with Dy Director and Executive Director.
  • To coordinate with accounts department to monitor and streamline event and programmes budgets.
  • Ensure timely submission of project and programme reports to the Donors
  • Ensure all logistical arrangements are in place during the events.
  • Ensure and oversea the international travel and securing visa for the staff.
  • Closely monitor staff performance and prepare appraisal to Dy Director and Executive Director
  • To maintain office decorum and discipline.

Person Specification:

v Post graduate in Human Resources or any MBA or Social Sciences background.
v Substantial knowledge and experience in management of development work with a range of development actors NGOs/CSOs, popular peoples movement, Donors, and other International organizations.
v Proven track record of leadership quality, achieving results, and people management skills.
v At least 10-12 years of work experience in Organizational Development, Institution Building, Networking and - Ability to develop strong positive relationship with stakeholders, founders, various networks and organizations to increase visibility of LCWRI.
v Strong commitment for justice and the rights of women, ability to share organizational values.
v Understanding and experience of applying gender and diversity issues in development and commitment to address inequalities in all the key areas of responsibilities
v Management and coordination in office and leadership of staff.
v Active public relation (PR) and fundraising skills.
v Ability to contribute to open and accountable management relationships.
v Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a diverse team.
v Financial management and information technology skills.
v Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, competency in other relevant language desirable.
v Awareness of own strengths and areas of weakness and evidence of self managed learning.

Who Are We Looking For
We are looking for a visionary Deputy Director who possesses the determination to make change happen, has a drive for institution building and commitment for team work and collaborative knowledge processes. The position requires a solid theoretical grounding in feminist framework, intensive legal research with strong analytical and writing skills, strategic communication skills for policy change in national and global spaces. Candidates with knowledge and work experience in the Indian context are preferred. The candidate must be willing to commit a minimum of two years with a possible extension in the third year. The remuneration will be based on appropriate experience and skills.

Roles and Responsibilities
· To strengthen the capacity of the multiple stakeholders on implementation of Domestic Violence Act.
· To strengthen the capacity of civil society to articulate and engage with authorities on the implementation of Domestic Violence Act to enhance cooperation of multiple stake holders address regional implementation processes.
· To inform and influence international approaches to sector programming at National level in response to CEDAW and women’s rights issues of equality and equity.
· To inform and help develop programme implementation with regular analysis of women’s rights issues and approaches and developments.
· To help develop existing programme of work and to identify related areas for new programme development.
· To identify areas of support and build relationships with key civil society organizations in order to develop understanding and relationships with the Law Enforcement Agencies, the department of Women and Child Development, National Human Rights Institutions, particularly National Commission for Women, media and to build civil society capacity to articulate women’s rights concerns to authorities.
· To identify and develop relationships with key international partners involved in women’s security issues in India.
· To build relationships and partnerships with key multi-stakeholder’s institutions and identify areas of support for policy, planning and decision-making to address women’s rights concerns.
· In cooperation with partners, assist in developing and implementing Domestic Violence Act at state and county-level, including monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of Act.
· To monitor debates on women’s rights issues of security and women’s development issues in India in order to identify the best practices and provide input into the policy debate on women’s rights.
· To represent LCWRI at women’s rights meetings, seminars and other events and act as spokesperson where appropriate.
· To contribute to research and writing of reports and briefings on relevant legal and policy issues in India.
· The Deputy Director will be expected to work closely with the other members of the LCWRI in consultation with the Executive Director to implement various activities.
· To coordinate with Programme Manager for effective implementation of particular programme activities.
· To assist in producing funding proposals, donors reports, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks for founders on going work of LCWRI in India.

Person Specification
· A Master’s Degree in Law; background in human rights and international relations with feminist perspective is essential.
· Demonstrate skills and the ability to analyze and strategize effective project and programme implementation.
· A minimum of 10-12 years relevant experience working for governments and/or non-governmental organisations on women’s issues with legal perspective.
· Solid understanding and experience in engaging with civil society organizations and governments for networking and capacity building.
· Knowledge of national, Asian and international framework of human rights is desirable.
· Ability to work independently, with a proven track record of working effectively as part of a team with demonstrated organizational skills is desirable.
· Experience and understanding of project management and willingness to undertake travel both national and international to represent LCWRI.
· Facilitation of training, workshops, consultations etc undertaken by LCWRI.
· Excellent presentation and report-writing skills and familiarity with logical framework are highly desirable.
· Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a non-partisan manner appreciating cultural and ethnic diversity.
