Dear All,

Herewith, I am sharing one recent incident that happened at one site with a dispatched container. As we all know, until the material reaches the customer, we are responsible for its safe delivery. Unfortunately, this incident occurred with one of the containers.

Please find the attached file. The container was carrying pesticide material.

Shailesh

@ Shaileshji,

Thank you for sharing. Has a root cause analysis been conducted for this? If yes, please share so that related members can take care of their material during transportation.

I am eagerly waiting to know the results of the investigations/analysis carried out. Was it due to the vehicle/driver factor or due to material not properly secured inside the container?

Hi,

It is important to get the material insured for transit. The drivers, roads, and vehicles are not something you can always 100% rely upon. Even with the best precautions in place, accidents are a part of the transportation process. I've come across cases when accidents take place somewhere remote, and by the time authorities reach there, goods have already been stolen, usually by the locals. The driver is helpless because it's one versus many. In this case, the thieves might have been interested only in the barrels and could have disposed of the pesticides.

Transit insurance is often avoided by many manufacturers for their goods in transit because they believe it is expensive. Then, they blame the transporter for the loss, which is both unethical and creates a scenario of dispute because no transporter would agree to transport the material and spread the word about the wrongdoing of deducting losses from his freight.

Mohit

Under Section 26 of the Sale of Goods Act, the risk is upon the seller till the goods are delivered to the buyer....
